Our colleagues presented recent results in a VR and ML enhanced experience at DesignDistrict in collaboration with Christian Kroepfl. (04.-06.10.2024 design-district.at)
The Rendering and Modeling group at TU Wien is looking for candidates interested in its interdisciplinary project "Advanced Computational Design", on the topic of "Lighting Simulation For Architectural Design".
This interdisciplinary Special Research Programme aims to develop advanced computational design tools for the early design phase in Architecture, Engineering and Construction in eight scientific subprojects spanning computer science (computer graphics), architecture, civil engineering and mathematics.
Our colleagues presented recent results from the SFB advanced computational design, as well as from the research project “Visualizing an Ancient Egyptian Queen” at this year's "Lange Nacht der Forschung" (long night of research) - Austria's largest public outreach event for science, research, and innovation.
Our colleagues Martin Kilian (TU Wien), Anthony S Ramos Cisneros (KAUST), Christian Müller (TU Wien), and Helmut Pottmann (KAUST) have won the Best Paper award at SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 for their paper "Meshes with Spherical Faces".
Our colleagues from SP9 (Material- and Structurally Informed Freeform Structures) are presenting novel materials based on clay, mycelium, and alginate, in the exhibition "BASIC RESEARCH" at MUWA Graz (https://www.muwa.at).
General opening hours: Wed-Mon, 1pm-5:30pm (Jan.-May 2024, closed: February 24th - March 8th 2024)

Our SFB project "Advanced Computational Design" has received extended funding for another four years of exciting, interdisciplinary research.
In the second funding period, we will deepen innovation in three main research areas: Design Methodology, Visual and Haptic Design Interaction and Form Finding, while extending interactions between the involved disciplines.
The members of the Center for Geometry and Computational Design welcomed faculty, students, company representatives and the public to the 8th Symposium on Geometry and Computational Design at TU Wien on November 3rd, 2023.
The collaborative project between SP5 and SP7 teams won the SIGGRAPH 2023 Emerging Technologies Best Project Award for “Action-Origami Inspired Haptic Devices for Virtual Reality” (https://doi.org/10.1145/3588037.3595393). The award was given by the Laval Virtual jury and the project has been invited to be presented at Laval Virtual 2024.
Our colleagues from SP3 are participating in the CITYX VENICE 2023 virtual exhibition, curated by Tom Kovac. This year Stefan Rutzinger and Kristina Schinegger are curating a virtual pavilion presenting research conducted in SP3 (Johannes Schlusche, Mathias Bank, Julian Höck, Viki Sandor), as well as joint research workshops with SP9 (Milena Stavric, Julian Jauck, Hana Vasatko, Felix Dokonal) and SP2 (Shervin Rasoulzadeh).
